Installing the Keepr extension in Firefox
Why this is temporary
Firefox installs an extension permanently only once Mozilla has signed it, which happens when the Add-ons listing is approved. Until then the only way in is Firefox's own developer page, which loads the extension for the current session.
Everything works exactly as it will after the listing: the timer, the side panel, Jira and GitLab issue pages. The only difference is that the extension is gone the next time you start Firefox.
Download the extension
On the Keepr Downloads page, choose Firefox. Your browser saves a single .zip file. Leave it where it is -- you do not need to unpack it, and you will point Firefox at this exact file in the next step.
Keepr needs Firefox 140 or newer. If you are on an older version, update Firefox first.
Load it into Firefox
Open a new tab and go to , then choose This Firefox in the left-hand column.
Press Load Temporary Add-on, and pick the .zip file you just downloaded. Keepr appears in the list straight away, and its icon appears on the toolbar. If you do not see the icon, open the extensions (puzzle piece) menu and pin Keepr.
Connect it to your account
Click the Keepr icon and paste a personal API token. You create one in Keepr under Settings → API tokens; give it the timers and projects scopes so the project, task and tag pickers work.
Personal API tokens are part of the Ultimate plan. On any other plan the extension will say so instead of asking for a token.
Then choose a workspace, and the timer is ready.
After you restart Firefox
The extension is removed when Firefox closes. To bring it back, go to , This Firefox, Load Temporary Add-on, and choose the same .zip again.
Your token and the workspace you picked are remembered, so you do not have to connect it a second time.
We will announce the Firefox Add-ons listing as soon as it is approved; after that, this page will tell you how to switch to the one-click install.
